New Accreditation Scheme for Persons Certification Bodies

The Emirates International Accreditation Centre (EIAC) is launching a new accreditation scheme for ISO/IEC 17024 persons certification bodies.

The accreditation scheme covers the scope of “Certification of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Person in Charge (PIC) and Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Practitioner”.

The regulatory body Dubai Municipality (Health and Safety Department-DM) is the certification scheme owner.

The PICs and OHS Practitioners would be required to get certification from EIAC’s accredited persons certification bodies.

As per the scheme all industries operating in the Emirate of Dubai shall designate at least one certified OHS Person in Charge (PIC) for each work shift and each work location. Also all industries operating in the Emirate of Dubai shall designate Certified OHS Practitioners within their organization to ensure Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) management for the business entity or establishment.

The main accreditation criteria for persons’ certification bodies shall be ISO/IEC 17024 standard.

Persons’ certification bodies and stakeholders are invited to provide input for the scheme.
